Went to this restaurant because of the reviews. It was mediocre at best. I've been to many sushi restaurants that were much better than this at way less prices.

Went here for an anniversary dinner. We had the omakase counter meal, and everything was delicious. My husband says that the High Tea drink was the best cocktail he's ever had.

We arrived without a reservation about ten minutes before open and got a seat at the sushi counter. The restaurant immediately borrows practices from japanese culture (all the floor staff greeting guests in japanese) but instead of a feeling of hospitality, it felt more like we were being herded to the counter. The counter setup was strange. Seats are close and trays are set up in front of the chairs to demarcate your eating space. The eating area is notably shorter than the chefs preparation area with sight-lines further blocked by the fish fridges. You basically can’t see any of the course prep. After a tuna hand roll appetizer, each of the courses came out in sets. 3 courses of salmon, 4 tuna, 3 whitefish, an egg custard to break up the fish, 5 shellfish, 4 mackerel, miso soup and 2 “desserts” (deep fried eel and tamago). For $180 a person, the food itself felt uninspired and unremarkable. For such an important component to each dish, the rice was wholly disappointing- bland and comparable to any $15 casual sushi roll rice. The fish was mostly fine, but at this price point you’d hope for better than fine. Of all the pieces, the otoro and yellowfin were only ones we felt were worth the price. It felt out of place that there were four different mackerel pieces. It was also strange how the chefs served each of the guests differently. The pair to our right were served like us, where all the courses in each set were served simultaneously. While the pair to our left were served one piece at a time, paced out a little more thoughtfully, based on the guests’ eating. Lets get this straight. Although this place masquerades as an upscale omakase experience, it runs as a classic churn and burn operation employing way too many floor staff in a failed attempt to try to make guests feel pampered. They serve a bunch of passable pieces of fish and flip a seat every 2 hours for nearly 200 bucks a person. Save your money and just go enjoy a more casual spot.
