Like many people in the neighborhood we used Popeye for our locks and AC installation. The lock presented multiple issues, as the door and doorframe themselves are old. Popeye tried to tell us the problems we had opening and closing the door would go away “with time” but after multiple times not being able to physically turn my key in the door, our super came up and realized the barrel itself was not aligned. Popeye had to come back and fix it, and it was then that I suspected this guy was trying to get away with doing as little as possible. At first we were more or less happy with the AC installation despite clear cracks at the bottom edge of one unit and corners of another (after all, you get what you paid for) but after the first big rainstorm we saw what a terrible job he and his assistant did. During the rainstorm water came pouring into our apartment via the AC units, soaking our freshly painted walls and newly waxed floor and posing an electrocution risk to us as we tried to mop up the water—-any handyman would know how bad this is. When we pulled the first unit out of the window, we saw that there is even a bubble level on the bracket itself to make sure this does not happen, but Popeye and his assistant ignored the bubble levels (Popeye was busy chatting and didn’t even check the assistant’s work) which clearly shows that the bracket tilts the AC into the apartment, more or less setting us up for a major flooding event. I see that lots of people have left 5 star reviews in the last few months right after installation, and wonder how many of them experienced flooding after this rainstorm. Popeye is charming, but he did a bad installation with the lock, tried to insist it was all in our head (peak gaslighting behavior right there), only came back to fix it after the super, (another man, mind you I am a woman) looked at it, and then did a terrible job with our ACs that caused real damage to our new home and could have resulted in electrocution for one of us. Do not use this company.

Cannot say thank you enough for helping me get into my apartment after someone pressed the autolock on my door without me knowing and it was jammed shut. And even helped me calm down while it was happening!

Popeye's team Mike installed our window AC unit with bracket. Came within half an hour while they were swamped and at start of the heatwave week, installed it within 15 minutes. Clean and quick job, Mike was super nice, efficient and professional! Thank you Mike and Popeye!
